Post-Covid Advanced Focus with cardiology for children

Post Covid filter packs – Safe even after Covid!

The effects of the coronavirus can vary greatly from individual to individual in terms of the impact on health, whether the infection was mild or severe. It is particularly important to pay attention to the body’s signals, as complications from infection can linger in the body for extended periods of time, while continuing to damage health.

If these complications go undetected, children who have undergone Covid may suffer more permanent health damage that in most cases could have been prevented by simple tests.

The experts at Doktor24 have put together four professional screening packages that make it easy to keep your child safe after Covid.

What does the Special Attention with Cardiology Package offer?

In addition to the recommended basic screening, we detect and assess the areas most at risk of complications.

In addition to the Covid-specific laboratory test, which provides complex information on possible blood coagulation abnormalities, cardiovascular involvement and the general condition of the body, the package includes a complex cardiological examination, allowing a more thorough overview.

Parents will get information about the child’s ability to cope with the stress and possible complications of the infection. This package also includes a personal medical consultation and a physical examination. Once the results of the Covid specific laboratory package are available, a specialised physical and instrumental cardiology examination will be performed.

The first step on the road to full recovery, even in children, is to assess the health of the body and to determine whether the virus has left any physical complications that could hinder a full recovery.

To perform the package, children must be at least 4 weeks after the course of the infection, following the lifting of the official house quarantine, they must be fever-free for at least 3 day and asymptomatic.

  • For children who have developed a serious infection that required hospitalisation.
  • Those with increased fatigue, drowsiness, lethargy and listlessness even after 1 month after the infection.
  • For parents who want to be reassured about their child’s health by a multidisciplinary package of tests.

If you would like to find out whether your child has developed immunity to the coronavirus, ask about our complementary immunity laboratory test, which includes the necessary IgM and IgG screenings!

Before the blood test, there is a possibility to use Emla gel, which helps to relieve the pain caused by the needle prick. In this case, however, you should wait 1 hour before the blood test to allow the gel to take effect.

Cardiac ultrasound

It is best suited for objective assessment of cardiac structure and function. This test allows us to differentiate between systolic and diastolic heart failure. The so-called Doppler echocardiography allows a complete haemodynamic assessment: measurement of valve insufficiencies, stenoses, pressures and cardiac output.

It displays the electrical activity of the heart in the form of curves drawn on paper tape. It can be used to examine the number of beats per minute, their regularity, the pacing and conduction of the heart, rhythm disturbances, conduction abnormalities, myocardial oxygen deficiency and damage. Among many other conditions, it provides information on the size of the walls of the chambers that make up the heart, but also on the effects of the drugs used on heart function or their undesirable side effects. Although no special preparation is necessary, physical exertion immediately before the test (e.g. going up stairs) may alter the curve. However, after a few minutes of rest, the heart will return to its resting state.

A pulse oximeter is a very simple, usually small, plastic-coated diagnostic device that the patient can use by clipping it to their finger. It can be used to quickly and easily measure blood oxygen saturation and current pulse.
